In Total Battle, there are basically 5 categories of monster squads:

There are 30 common and 30 rare monster squads with different levels in each category. Starting at level 1 up to a maximum of level 45. Not every level is always represented (see list of currently unused levels). It applies to both common and rare: |

The heroic monster squads have 6 per category with different levels. The smallest level is 16 and the highest is 45 and they are always at a distance of 5. The following distribution applies: |
| Undead: | 16, 21, 26, 31, 36, 41 |
| Elves: | 17, 22, 27, 32, 37, 42 |
| Cursed: | 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43 |
| Barbarians: | 19, 24, 29, 34, 39, 44 |
| Inferno: | 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 |

Epic Monster Squads are usually level 50. The following epic monster squads are currently available:
An exception is the Tinman from the Rise of the Ancients event, whose level can be influenced by the players (points on the book and how often he is defeated). |

In addition to these basic monster squads, there are also the category Runes, which appear at regular intervals. There are two ranks for these: common and raiding. Both have levels 20 to 45. Furthermore, the Fire Salamanders will appear in the Trial of Olympus event. These are common monsters, with levels 3 to 45. |

The level is indicated as a number in a shield for all monster squads. The following applies: |
